DESIGN NAME: Less is More
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair
INSPIRATION: A summary of the pandemic experienced in recent years and the lessons learned. The design has always represented social aspects and nowadays a product needs to represent more than ever these key elements such as comfort, not excess, and sustainability. This concept was the inspiration for this chair. The lines are minimalist and simple but still invite the user to sit down and enjoy the present moment.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The concept of the chair was based on important aspects of a good design, such as comfort, quality, and sustainable values. Nowadays a product needs to represent more than ever these key elements. This concept makes this chair unique along with its minimalist lines.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is a regular use chair.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2021 in Sao Paulo Brazil and finished in October 2021, It was launched in Firma casa, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Produced in 2021. It took a few months to develop the prototype and to achieve the best results. The chair is handmade using sustainable wood and has a high-quality level.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 550 mm x Depth 620 mm x Height 760mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We use handmade woodcraft technic, including bending wood.
We also have to research bout seams and finishing.
CHALLENGE: To reach the expected result, it was necessary to make several adjustments to the prototype. The piece has a backrest with anatomical and organic curves. Both the curvature of the wood and how to adjust the foam and seams were challenging. The goal was to create a piece with a high level of comfort and light lines.

Over 20 years on the market, its distinctive work has been featuring in the most prominent design fairs, exhibitions and publications in more than 25 countries including: Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and United States. Also, being recognised in important design awards including A Design Award, and German Design Award Nominee.
Roberta Rampazzo designs her own range for many established brands, including Allez, Decameron, Firma Casa, IPTI, Objekto, Sitti, Vermeil and many others. Products have been traded in high-end stores in several countries.
Currently living in London, Roberta is continuing her creative work researching new technologies and materials, developing new products and fostering relationships with new companies.

I am in awe of this award-winning chair design.
