DESIGN NAME: Voteco
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Application
INSPIRATION: Generally, individual responsibilities come to the fore when the issue of energy saving is discussed. (Turning off the unused lights etc.) However, according to research, even if a person eliminates 100% of their emissions for the rest of their life, they will save only one second from the global energy sector. That's why the most effective thing that can be done as a citizen against climate change is to vote for politicians who promise to deal with such problems and propose solutions.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Voteco is an app where people can evaluate politicians on their environmental impact. Users can review and vote on politicians' responses to current environmental events. These votes are reflected in the environment scores of politicians, which affects the party's overall score as well. The Environment Score used throughout the application is a unit that allows users to have a general idea about the politician and the party without the need for long research.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When the user wants to create an account for this platform, they choose one of the two account types. These are the voter and politician accounts. After selecting the account type, the user selects which topics they are interested in. Then, they are directed to the news feed page. On this page, they see the current news, tweets and the results of the motion votings. Apart from this page, there are two more general pages. These are the leaderboard and map pages. The leaderboard page contains the overall ranking of politicians. By clicking on the party ranking section, they can examine the general rankings of the political parties in the country. On the map page, the colored version of the provincial map of the country is displayed. The colors represent the "Environment Score". After the user selects their province and district from this map, they are directed to the district details page. On this page, they can see which party the regional government is affiliated with, their "Environment Score" and recent events that caused that score.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design process of the project started in October 2021 and finished in November 2021.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After the concept phase of the research is completed, 3 personas are determined. These are voters, activists and politicians. The voter persona says that it takes too much time to individually research politicians' opinions on each issue, so they often give up. The activist persona says they're trying to get their ideals out to a larger and more engaged audience. The politician persona says that the number of young voters who support green policies is increasing and they want to appeal to this audience in the next elections. At the prototype stage, to provide a more positive user experience, the product is reviewed by these audiences.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging aspect of this project was ensuring that users could easily understand the pages containing detailed information. Prototype tests were conducted with users to overcome this challenge. The user's pain points were determined and the design was developed by addressing these identified problems.
