| DESIGN NAME: Lake PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tea Table INSPIRATION: The inspiration comes from the long-term meditations of designers on solid wood furniture, which would always render a stable and quiet vibe. Thus, the design, by the style of curved surface, has extended wood furniture’s styling air with a sense of orientation, which adheres to the organic concept and creates a cozy and relaxing living room atmosphere. Based on modern life scenarios, it integrates functions needed. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: LAKE is a coffee table with motion tendency specially designed for the modern home environment. Lending wood a brand new 3D style of a curved surface, this product comfortably balance motion and stillness, and harmoniously integrates aesthetic elements and functions. The visual flow adds an ethereal feeling to modern home space and conveys a chic and vibrant sense to users. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is a hidden USB jack and an International three-hole socket under the table that meet daily power demands of users. The hidden drawer on the side equipped with Austrian Blum 560H series 40cm TANDEM full extension concealed undermount slide, can be fully pulled out to facilitate usage. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Starting in Beijing, China, in February 2019, this project was accomplished in Henan, China in October 2020, and was exhibited in Caochangdi Arts in November 2020. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Employing the North American black walnut that is processed by 3D curved surface style CNC machining, the table is directly assembled by the cut wood. The table is painted with OSMO wax oil and the paint base is oil-free paint. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1600*600*830mm TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As for the wooden furniture, the artificial boards are commonly constructed with a basic element of plane and are sometimes added with a curved element at best. If the material is solid wood, elements like lines and original wooden grains can be added. We lend wood a brand new curved 3D style and conform to the organic concept in another aspect. We also add some detailed undulating texture, making the table more visually layered. CHALLENGE: The challenge lies in the structure of a large upper part and a small part which would be unstable if it is hit. By the planning of the grounding area, we have made it possible that it will not tip over if we apply the weight of an adult on any edge of this table. Featuring the function of storage and adaptability with power, it is more suitable for modern household scenarios.
