| DESIGN NAME: Silence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sign Language Translator INSPIRATION: The deaf has lot difficulties in daily communication. Sign language, because of its convenience, is more frequently used than text language, so, a sign language translator device is imperative in the communication between the deaf from different countries. Silence can make the fluent communication come true. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Silence is a device which can inter-transfer acoustical signal and sign language. It aims to break the communication barriers between the deaf and the ordinary. Compared with others, this device provides the holographic projection of the translated sign language to help the deaf understand the others. Thus to make the communication faster and easier. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The using process is as follows: the sign language is presented to Silence, Silence translates it into target vioce language to the listeners, after receiving the information, the listeners input the voice message into Silence, after translation processing, Silence outputs sign language, thus, the whole communicating process is completed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2021 at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts of Shenyang, Liaoning, China, and be completed in October 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main marital is anodic aluminum oxide. The product has four parts, the front side is module of somatosensory recognition the back side is module of voice playback and recording, the top is module of holographic projection, the inside part is module of language information translation and processing. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product is a flat rectangle, 40cm long , 40cm wide and 80cm high, the shape is more suitable for a variety of public places. When it’s opened, there’s a screen of holographic projection module. TAGS: Sign Language，Translate RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Silence is a product designed for people with hearing and language disabled in order to help them to communicate fluently with others through technology of holographic projection, sign language translating, voice transformation, action recognition and capture. Etc. The coming out of Silence breaks through the communication barriers between the deaf and others, makes the communication easier, solves many inconveniences in the their lives CHALLENGE: The main problem in the design process is how to capture the sign language action, understand the sign language, transfer sign language to voice, image the voice content, and what is the form of the image, whether the significance of the imaging is accurate etc. Finally，the capture problem is solved by Kinet, the problem of sign language transformation was solved with a complete set of procedures, the imaging problem is solved with a z-type holographic projection imaging device. NAME: LuXun Academy of Fine Arts PROFILE: Luxun Academy of Fine Arts is located in Shenyang, Liaoning province. It is the only higher Fine Arts institution with multi-discipline and multi-education level in Northeast China. The school has been selected by the Ministry of Education as the National Cultural Base for college students, the liberal education, and the Chinese Federation of Literature and art as the information research base for Chinese literary and artistic public opinion.The school was founded in 1938 in Yan ‘an by the Lu Xun Art Institute, initiated by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and others. In 1945, Yan ‘an Luyi school moved to the northeast. Developed into Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958. |
