| DESIGN NAME: Float PRIMARY FUNCTION: Illumination INSPIRATION: In order to allow users to slow down the pace of life in the fast-paced rampant era, to experience the beauty of life. this maglev "floating" light is designed. The product is inspired by "Zen,", the "slow design" concept and emotion applied to this product. The combination of the static and the rotation of the float creates a "Zen" atmosphere and enables people to reach the state of mindfulness. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Float is a lamp designed based on the concept of slow design.It can be turned on by the magnetic suspension knob on it, this interactive mode gives users a unique Mental Flow. The float rotates at a uniform speed make the users be in a buddhist mood to reach a state of full concentration, thus caters to the meditation artistic conception. The simple style and green materials are designed on the concept of Zen and reflect the design concept of advocating nature, returning to nature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Floating lamp is rotated to provide lighting. The user can switch the lamp by rotating the suspended object, and the lamp is turned off when the float stops and the light is lit when it moves. The direction of rotation corresponds to the warm and cold light. It creates a good atmosphere to help users better input in the study. The clever union with magnetic levitation technology increases the lamp’s science and technology sense and interest. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2021 at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts of Shenyang, Liaoning, China, and be completed in October 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Maglev technology. In terms of materials, we choose polypropylene, aluminum and durable white oak. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: High lamp height 600mm, diameter 220mm, Medium lamp height 287mm, Diameter 155mm Low lamp height 100mm, diameter 200mm TAGS: Luminaires， Magnetic levitation， Slow design， Emotionalization， The east RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Under the concept of slowing down, we should endow lamps with emotion and interesting interactive ways to enhance users' emotional experience in lamps. It uses the magnetic levitation technology, by rotating the float above to make it rotate for a long time to achieve the effect of continuous lighting, The continuous rotation of the float above, the light atmosphere and the smooth rotation of its float will bring the users a peaceful experience, thus quickly entering the state of mindfulness. CHALLENGE: The challenge is how to make the float stay stable and for a long time as it turns. Magnetic levitation device makes the overall center of gravity of the lamp unstable. In order to let the lamp center down, we increased the overall weight of a lamp. Useing of aluminum material, makes it durable ,strong and wear – resistant, but the cost will be relatively higher. NAME: LuXun Academy of Fine Arts PROFILE: Luxun Academy of Fine Arts is located in Shenyang, Liaoning province. It is the only higher Fine Arts institution with multi-discipline and multi-education level in Northeast China. The school has been selected by the Ministry of Education as the National Cultural Base for college students, the liberal education, and the Chinese Federation of Literature and art as the information research base for Chinese literary and artistic public opinion.The school was founded in 1938 in Yan ‘an by the Lu Xun Art Institute, initiated by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and others. In 1945, Yan ‘an Luyi school moved to the northeast. Developed into Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958. |
