| DESIGN NAME: Cat Wonderland PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Inspired by stunning golden wheat fields in the south of France, the space is embraced by soft materials, colors of milk tea, beige, earth-tone, and wood to inject a sense of elegance and serenity. A true open design provides unobstructed view for maximum comfort and coziness. The warm home is a stress-free space for house owner to unwind and retreat to at the end of the workday in a high-pressure environment. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The spacious and airy layout is a wonderland for the house owner and five beloved cats. In addition to a smooth traffic flow, cat cave, litter, and cat jumping platform are carefully designed at each passage to create a pet-friendly and warm apartment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Colorful terrazzo floored entryway set the tone for glamour in this home. The engravings of five cats on the floor add fun and make the home welcoming to come back to. The warmth of the beige and white tones in the living room brings peace of mind, while the wooden grooves on the wall are arranged sequentially from the outside to the inside to outline the main TV wall. The upper and lower ends of the outer edges are connected to transparent glass, which not only pushes the TV wall deeper but also serves as a semi-decorative screen for the entrance, allowing light to flow in while preserving a moderate amount of privacy. The wall behind the sofa is a playground for cats. Since cats enjoy sprinting up and down and being alone, a fun jumping platform allows cats to jump up and done freely. Cat bed and cat path are ideal hiding spots for cats. A perfect playground for fur babies is built. These elements can really bring a playground for fur babies to life. In the bedroom, the warmth of the wooden elements adds a stable note to the peaceful sleeping environment. The wooden grooves construct a delicate facade, and the curved edges on one side inject a smooth rhythm. Orange-yellow light strip is buried at the junction of materials. The gentle light particles offer a warm and comfortable sleeping atmosphere. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in September 2021 in Taipei City, Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Special coating, iron parts, wood veneer, baking varnish, wood floor, terrazzo SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: In the space of 116 square meters, there are two bedrooms, one living room, one dining room, two bathrooms, one kitchen and the storeroom. TAGS: Interior Design, Residential, Colorful terrazzo, White tones, Cats RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The changes of lighting can bring a different look to the home. Each space is equipped with a dimming system that can be precisely adjusted to the preferred illuminance with a knob. CHALLENGE: There were too many cabinets in the kitchen before, which prevented light from entering the room. After removing the cabinets and enlarging the windows, the light flows in smoothly. Brightness is also enhanced with a clean white paint. In the bathroom, a seamless coating that is easy to clean is adopted instead of traditional tiles. The warm white tone of the public space is continued. Combined with the minimalist bathroom equipment with clean, sharp lines, it creates a pure feeling to wash away a whole day's fatigue.
