| DESIGN NAME: Planet 0238 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Center INSPIRATION: Inspired by a planetary explosion, a futuristic brand-new planet was born, full of life force and infinite possibilities. The exhibition center is divided into blocks with clear functions, such as the reception area, negotiation area, coffee bar, etc., visitors can travel in the interstellar space and experience the fantasy interstellar space, making it a check-in destination away from daily life and experiencing a unique lifestyle. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As an interstellar exploration-themed exhibition center, the Planet 0238 is guided by commercial thinking, and adopts design to offer space mystery and desire to explore, creating an art experience hall with commercial sales function, which is technological, artistic and futuristic. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The sandpan area continues the surreal expression technique, using partial light to interpret light and shadow. The black ground is like a mirror, the light and the mirror alternately overlap and reflect, making the entire area seem to be placed in the vast space by a supernatural force. Visitors’ sight will follow unconsciously to extend far away, and see a skyful of stars when looking up, which is extending infinitely in space, and the spatial pattern is more layered. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2021 and finished in August 2021 in Bishan Dist., Chongqing City, China. And was exhibited in Chongqing City on August 1st. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The huge twinkling light strip on the top of the meeting hall is winding, which is the connection between Planet 0238 and the universe, and is also the direction of the moving line. It is set against the unique gray surface of the outer space planet under feet. The black marble tabletop and the off-white sofa contrast with each other, and the curved shape softens the space boundary, bringing a comfortable scene experience. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1800 square meters TAGS: An interstellar exploration-themed exhibition center; the new claim of non real estate RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Different from the traditional building exhibition center, Planet 0238 advocates the new claim of non real estate by adopting a new retail pattern, and integrating various sales scenarios into it. For example, a fashionable coffee bar for social occasions, the trendy area for mystery toy boxes, and the sale of excellent scientific products of the Z generation that believe “Appearance is power”, deduces the colorful lifestyle and trend culture of contemporary youth for visitors to roam freely. CHALLENGE: "How to visualize the concept?" is the biggest difficulty and challenge we have encountered. Under the theme of the planet, we want to capture the expression of space and the future in space. We observed the texture of the moon's surface and applied it in space. There are a lot of materials with mirror and gradient effects. What materials and processes can be used to express the artistic effect of the lunar surface? How to deal with refraction and reflection of light under specular material? How to control the color of gradient material and the gradual decay of color? We keep going back and forth between the Thousand Materials Factory and the project site to try new materials, new processes and adjust the position of the material shape in the space. In the end, we optimize and solve these difficulties within a limited time and present the project in the best way.
