| DESIGN NAME: Shiyi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office INSPIRATION: Here is the daily work area for the designers of ELEVEN. Therefore, while ensuring the functionalities, we try to provide a more spatial experience, expecting it to convey stronger emotions and inspire the designers' creativity. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: There are countless design possibilities around us. Reducing the complexity of the original layout, this project uses interspersed blocks to contour the outline of the office, which is then layered to highlight the contrast and variability of the wall. The simple color and primitive textures, formed from the stone, wood, and metal, strike a balance between openness and rigidity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Targeted at the problems regarding the beam left by opening up the space, the designer introduces the design of a two-way-out Y-shaped staircase. Starting with one step, the staircase leads to two different areas through two diverse pathways. In this way, the beam is avoided. On the second floor, the designer tries out a suspending tea room. Weight of the whole space is supported by the steel frame suspended from the ceiling. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2020 in Zhejiang Wenzhou and finished in January 2021 in Zhejiang Wenzhou. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Design is without restrictions. The interlaced and contrasting geometric surfaces and lines in the space strikes an aesthetically balanced proportion between rounded edges and straight lines. The single chair that decorated the monotonous space brings the vitality of nature into the room, while modern materials reflect the surrounding objects. And the pleasant contrast between these two turns into the eye-catching element of the space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: As the height of the space designed is 5.38 meters, the designer divides it into two floors under the circumstance that building up a structure is allowed. During design execution, treatment of the height should be handled very precisely, to both guarantee comfort downstairs and satisfy functional height requirements for the second floor. The foyer starts with two suspending stones, on the back of which, two steel frames are established from bottom to ceiling as support. TAGS: Poetic, Harmony, Nature, Diversity, pure RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Apply the Scarpa concept and refer to some ancient decorations. CHALLENGE: To solve the problems regarding the beam left by opening up the space, design of the staircase becomes a major difficulty. Treatment of the spatial structure building and how to support the suspending tea room. Reinforcement of landscaping fixture at the entrance.
