| DESIGN NAME: Existence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chair INSPIRATION: I think, therefore I am. Instead of designing a chair for physical comfort, I look for a chair reflecting me and the existence of my mind. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Existence chair is a chair for thinking, a piece of architecture defines the edge and leaves space for the mind to fill. There are a pair of prototypes made of stainless steel. The sitting experience requires attention and muscles to participate in. Limiting comfort sets the mind free. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Existence is to sit with people's attention and set their minds free. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2019 in California and finished production in January 2021 in China. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The chair is made of stainless steel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 1000 mm x Depth 800 mm x Height 600 mm TAGS: Decisive, Brutal, Order, Still, Emptiness RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Collecting Inspirations from myself, Starting with sketching, Making small scale mockups and deciding the design direction, Making real scale prototypes and adjusting design. CHALLENGE: Thinking about how to control the uncertainty of handmade, I have a strong passion for adjusting different techniques and getting the exact accuracy.
