| DESIGN NAME: History of Chinese Character Design PRIMARY FUNCTION: Book INSPIRATION: Chinese characters are not only important communication carriers of Chinese culture, but also are important somponents of Chinese culture. For thousands of years, Chinese characters have been widely spread in various ethnic regions and neighboring countries and regions, exerting a profound influence on cultural development.Through research and analysis, this book explores the thinking and methods behind the artistic aesthetics and information communication function of Chinese characters. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is the first professional book to systematically explain the history of Chinese character design from the dimension of design studies. The seven Chinese characters in the title correspond to seven fonts with evolutionary relationships. Black and white graphic illustrations are designed on the front pages of different chapters, which is the symbol collage construction of the text and design examples occurred in the corresponding chapter. The inner page layout is full and easy to read, designed a large number of information visualization diagrams for content information. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The book design is divided into two parts, a white and gold hard box and a whole black hard cover book. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Black and white are the visual impression of Chinese characters. The cover and margin of the book are designed with black texture background, while the cover box is made of white special paper to form a contrast between black and white. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 200mm*50mm*280mm TAGS: Chinese Characers, history, book design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This book begins with the development of inheritance and innovation of Chinese character design, and through research and analysis, excavates the thinking and methods behind the artistic aesthetics and information transmission function of Chinese characters. The scope of research will be expanded to all kinds of character forms closely related to the history of the whole Chinese character culture circle, and Chinese characters are independent from pure fine arts or philology, forming a relatively independent research system under the dimension of "design science". CHALLENGE: The book took 8 years to compile, during which time, numerous documents were checked, charts were drawn, and words were elaborated.
