| DESIGN NAME: Gae Plus Yu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Math Workbook INSPIRATION: Visang designed the ‘Concept book' and ‘Drill book' with different features and colors as paired semicircles inspired by the concept of the 'circle' itself, which represents the completeness created from the two systematic learning books. When placed as a set, the two semicircles combine to form a single circle, showing the textbook's creative structural characteristics. In this way, the systematic learning effects of the two books demonstrates the significance of the brand essence 'Synergy Up.’ UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Gae Plus Yu is a math brand developed as an innovative mathematics learning system for efficient learning. The systematic learning collectively created by the ‘Concept book’ and ‘Drill book’ offers effective and rapid results to students. The students can feel a sense of accomplishment because they can conveniently select their customized textbooks and can acquire 'the most effective mathematics learning' organically through the two books. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Visang applied a blue green color to the Concept book, and employed different graphics and colors according to the difficulty of the Drill book. Together, these carry the brand essence Synergy Up by being devised for students to select their desired learning levels and study two books simultaneously at a reasonable price. This establishes a new system allowing students to be more proactive in their own learning. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project first began in March 2021, and was completed in October 2021 in Seoul, and is being sold in Korea in 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Concept book and Drill book are manufactured in the form of one book through a temporary binding method using adhesive, but are easily detachable from each other by lightly pressing between the books at the time of use. Developed to present an effective learning method in a short time, the books can also be utilized singly as needed, providing additional convenience. Spot color printing with colors denoting difficulty and holographic foil on matte finish complements the design's spaciousness. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Elementary school size is 220 mm x 15 mm x 300 mm, 0.2kg weight, and Paper Material is art paper 250g. Middle school size is 215 mm x 12 mm x 285 mm, 0.16kg weight, and Paper Material is art paper 250g. Visang published the 2002 mathematics workbook Gae Plus Yu through the development of an innovative math learning system. This type of systematic learning system is constantly sought after by learners. As a result, Gae Plus Yu has become Korea representative math workbook with annual sales of more than 400,000 copies and total sales over 40 million. CHALLENGE: Korean passion for math learning rivals that of any other country, but its students struggle through cramming and rote problem solving. Accordingly, Visang undertook a complete overhaul of the existing system and proposed a new structure of workbooks that fosters organic learning by fully separating the study of concepts and example types. This has brought innovation to the field and ignited a positive boom for a system in which students can personally customize their own set of textbooks.
