| DESIGN NAME: Ecofriendly PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric Diy Bicycle INSPIRATION: We are inspired by the many DIY furnitures in boxes from IKEA. They are cheap and easy to assemble for anyone. Pick up a box in the morning and in the afternoon you have an assembled furniture. This is the simple idea behind our bike. you get it in a box in the morning and in the afternoon you an assembly electric bicycle and then off you go. As easy as it gets. The bike is made in ply-wood UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The wood used for the ÖKOVÄNLIG, meaning 'environmentall OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This electric bicycle is very easy to operate and to assemble. The assemble time is less than 30 minutes. When you push the pedal it automatically transform into an electric assisted bicycle. On the display you can follow your speed and the autonomy of the battery. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: A total 12 month of development in the Pininfarina design office in Italy and in the Diavelo development office in Croatia and the Netherlands FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Vehicle, Mobility and Transportation Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Plywood rain and wet protected frame. Easy to assemble. The assembly time for any DIT enthusiast is maximum 30 Minutes. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 18,8 Kg / Length 145 cm x Hight 95 cm x width 50 cm / Package luxury cartonage / Technical property: Plywood bike. 100% DIY TAGS: Sandwichbike, eco friendly, electric bike, vehicle, award winner, design, bike, automotive RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our research is based on insights from end consumers. The end consumers was missing a holistic designed electric bike in the market. Normally electric bikes are not that beautiful. You will see external battery boxes. External motors and external cables. But in our Pininfarina case all is extremely well integrated. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was that there was no components available. Because of idea to integrate all items we had to make many of the parts from scratch. For instanse the battery and the display is totally new developments for this project only. We work for many automotive companies all over the world. Our design philosophy is to integrate parts in our design as much as possible in order to create a holistic design. Another discipline that we master is to ingrate design DNA from existing brands into new developments and concepts. Diavelo is one of the most or probably the most award winning studio in the world designing electric bicycles. |
