| DESIGN NAME: Bella Vita PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Balance, productivity, health, and tranquility, are exactly what a person needs to feel in their home. In a post-Covid world, where people are becoming more aware of their health, and are obliged to spend more time at home, working and learning remotely, a thoughtfully designed home can provide and foster that. In this design, an ecolodge-inspired residential house concept in Fayoum, Egypt, is created to nurture the new norm for a post-Covid home. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As people are becoming more mindful of the relationship between indoors and outdoors and how bringing nature inside has a powerful impact on the quality of our lives, sustainability and biophilic design concepts were at the heart of this design. From using greenery, earth tones, and natural materials inspired from the outdoors in every zone of the house, to integrating an aquaponics system in the kitchen and other furniture pieces, this concept takes sustainable living to a whole new level. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The selected colors and materials along with the flowy curves in the architecture of the space and furniture pieces, all blend together in perfect harmony to create a state of balance and tranquility. The earthy textures of stones, terrazzo, and natural fiber rugs give the space a relaxed warm vibe while also stimulating the senses, and the greenery creates a sense of calmness, decreases anxiety, and increases memory, boosting the overall health and productivity of the residents. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to promote sustainable healthy living, state-of-the-art aquaponics systems were integrated, providing a source of natural food supply - which saves both money and the risk of accidental virus exposure - as well as many green benefits like water conservation and pollution-free agriculture. Additionally, earth tones and natural materials - like wood, terrazzo, stones, and greenery - were utilized for their power as mental health boosters. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total area of Bella Vita house is 630 sqm TAGS: Interior Design, Aquaponics, post-Covid Home, Sustainability, Biophilic Design, Earth tones, Nature, Bringing the outdoors inside, Eco-Living, Ecolodge RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design research depends on analytical and predictive research. The main objective is to study the depth of life aesthetics, pandemic echo and sustainability trends in interior design that aims to create solutions for more healthy living using quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. As a result, aquaponics systems were integrated into the interior space that takes sustainable living to a whole new level with a powerful impact on the quality of our lives. CHALLENGE: The first big challenge is to bring outside inside, blending high sustainability and productivity with aesthetic, which has been overcomed by integrating an aquaponics system inside the house in the kitchen and other furniture pieces and this system is a technology-intensive and knowledge-intensive method of food production. the second challenging obstacle is the implementation of the aquaponics system due to its integrative character and application scenarios which is an atypical food production technology.
