| DESIGN NAME: Brewster 5000 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Desktop Pour Over Coffeemaker INSPIRATION: Brewster strives to provide the ultimate experience for coffee lovers a new way of brewing pour over coffee at home. We base this ambition on fundamental pillars: superior quality coffee, compact, intuitive and easy-to-use machines, exclusive accessories. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Brewster's compact automatic one cup pour over coffee maker brews the best quality cup of coffee every time at their home.The water flow is directed circularly over the coffee ground. It flows with regular interval to extract a neat coffee. Elementary interface in the product allows the user to easily understand the functions. The coffee maker is provided with a keep warm feature for keeping the brewed coffee warm for having it later. Disposable paper coffee cones are a part of brewsters design. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Led touch buttons allows the user to select options for cup selection and the strength of coffee. Single selection of the main button will power on the machine and for confirming the selected function. Holding it for five long seconds will start the keep warm function. The default white led will change colour depending on the selected function. Interface details are properly illustrated and defined in the user manual. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Main body is made up of polypropylene to withstanding the heat better. The main components are injection molded and assembled. The water flow is done through vibratory pump of 4 bar pressure and circular heating tube is used for boiling the water, Capacitive touch switch is used for interface and tank seal with flow piston is used for flowing the water from the reservoir to the pump. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: LxBxH- 150 x 150 x 355, 900W, water reservoir-550ml capacity TAGS: coffee maker, brewing, desktop product, home appliances, coffee, industrial design, product design, consumer electronics, design, compact RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Design Brief was concluded based on research done with users of ages 18 to 55. The circular water flow was designed after experimenting with 3d printed prototypes with different angles and sizes to achieve the angular water flow. The Size of filter cone, coffee mug and capacity of the water reservoir are done with international standards. The tearable coffee cones material (unbleached paper) and packaging were researched and designed. CHALLENGE: Our challenge is to design a compact desktop coffee maker. Our primary target users are freelancers / work from home people , to prepare a quality cup of coffee on their desk with less brewing process involved. Pour over coffee has been embraced for the best quality of coffee because of its special techniques used in extracting the richest flavours from the coffee grounds. What sets pour over apart is that it is made by hand-pouring the water over the coffee in a circular motion and the amount of water and interval given for the extraction of coffee depending on the the type of coffee grounds used, unlike drip coffee method.
