| DESIGN NAME: Porto PRIMARY FUNCTION: Relax Chair INSPIRATION: Satellites and radars, a global necessity for the modern age on their ability to transmit and receive signals for intelligence gathering. Their stealthy design determines the maximum range of vision, their accuracy of locating and their ability to distinguish and detect targets. We incorporated elements of satellites and radars to create a vividly attractive relax chair to send strong non-verbal signals of confidence, intelligence and elegance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Porto addresses style, comfort and privacy requirements for the aesthetically discerning home owner. The signature feature of the Porto is the elliptically shaped headrest that enhances the visual appearance of the occupant while ensuring privy reception of the relaying party. Porto is sculptural and dynamic with converging angles and curves shaped to embrace the body. The 360 degrees swivel and tilt mechanism, responds to the body movements and is assembled in the base of the seat and upholstered afterwards for a seamless appearance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Porto is a personal harbor of warmth, artistic expression and ultimate privacy, embracing the body from head to to (with the accompanying footrest) supporting lower back in ergonomic perfection. The swivel mechanism widens the perspective of the user while focusing on topic. The tilt mechanism responds to the body movements. Addressing privacy, communication, comfort needs and style requirements of aesthetically sensitive individuals, Porto by BoConcept delivers all within financial affordability. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Porto is designed by Studio Schrofer for BoConcept which is located in Denmark. The project is finished and presented to the market in 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Porto is produced in a one-mold cold foam technology with a metal frame insert for reinforcement. The swivel and tilt mechanism provides a 360 degrees panoramic experience which widens the perspective while focusing on topic. The tilt mechanism responds to the body movement and is assembled in the base of the seat and upholstered afterwards for a seamless appearance. BoConcept provides an extensive array of fabrics and leathers for personal customization for any interior. According to the 2020 consensus teleworking more than a third of the households with median incomes of $65,100/yr. teleworked (doubled from the previous year). For those in a higher income bracket of $200,000/yr. the percentage who converted to teleworking was even higher, 73.1%. As teleworking increased, so was the demand on the networks, satellites, digital communications.
