DESIGN NAME: Architectural Traces
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Publication
INSPIRATION: The Dalmatian architecture disappears under the trends. The authors of the book, called Architectural Traces, describe the works of a renowned Dalmatian architect Jerko Rosin, as modest, considerate, rational, responsible for the area, without unnecessary trendy views. And on the spine that has not bent in front of insatiable investors, which are consistency, stress, and years spent in a chair, I notice some different architectural, more painful, traces.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Looking from a distance at the sloping side of the cover, we recognize a roof with typical Dalmatian Roman tiles. It is created by the optical illusion of images of the actual Magnetic resonance of the architect's spine, which can be seen when we approach the book. They reveal the hidden and painful reality of a responsible Dalmatian architect, the one behind the buildings we admire.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The book is not designed flat. Although it communicates even when closed, it comes to full expression during use, when opening the book, when the cover comes into its open oblique position.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2019 in Split and finished in January 2020 in Split, and was exhibited in Hotel Park congress hall in January 2020.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The format of the book was chosen as the one that corresponds to the difference in proportions and quality content of the publication, not too large for the convenience of leafing. It is printed on quality offset paper, hard, stitched binding without the outer paper wrapper.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions are 270 mm x 270 mm x 35 mm
TAGS: Book, Architecture, Spine, Traces, Dalmatian, Roman
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Almost a lifelong experience, living in the same household with an architect, talking many times about architecture, I witnessed many successes but also injustice, misunderstanding, pressure, threats, sleepless nights, and consequently health problems.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was how to show the life of an architect who is not easy. To show it true in a society that has prejudices against responsible architects and that perceives architecture in the wrong way. Show that not all architects are the same.
