| DESIGN NAME: Building Blocks PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Maximize the advantages of daylighting and high ceilings, and combine every irregular space into a corner of storage. The open public domain with storage function is like building blocks. The layers are scattered but connected to each other, allowing parents and children Having a common rest and entertainment area at home will increase the frequency of interaction between each other. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Large internal french windows can bring the light to the every corner in this room. Meanwhile, gentle texture of the wood grain makes interior space more harmonious and warmer. Use a inclined tangent line on the plane of mezzanine to conquer the beam in this room. Due to this design, Could not only avoid beam but also make the view of the two floors much wider. Even more, harmonize the oppression that the beam emerge with wood veneer covering, embedded light bar and ceiling shape. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Dining room, it’s a place where a family most often stay. We built a emotional area with open kitchen in public space. The family can start up sight communications in this intimate area. It’s a good method to increase interactivity of emotion. Considering the height of the entrance to study room upstairs, the ceiling has been created above island. The ceiling is declined so that it can maintain the most comfortable structure of upper and lower floors. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To emphasize the correlation between material and space function, we built staircase with concrete polishing. When you step up to the second floor, you can also find laminate flooring which brings a clear transition to whole atmosphere. And the irregular structure is well concealed by difference of floors. There is a hidden room decorated by the grid-line door below the staircase. Furthermore, invisible storage has been sited at the end of the stairs. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W(1000cm) D(950cm) H(430cm) TAGS: A，interior design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The connection of public areas has a close relationship with the emotional communication of residents. How to increase staying time and comfort is the most important design direction to integrate the needs of residents and provide convenience. Seeing each other's movements, chatting and paying attention in the public area, so that everyone can be valued. CHALLENGE: In terms of space configuration, the limited height and the constraints brought by the beams and columns, in order to overcome the above conditions and to obtain good lighting in each space, several floor heights are used interactively to obtain the most comfortable space movement.
