DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Noxx Bottle Design

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Packaging

INSPIRATION:
H.P. Lovecraft and other characters from comics and illustration books. Thomas Ott inspired me to illuminate the motifs darkly and eerily.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The newly founded Eisbock brewery asked the graphic designer and illustrator Res Zinniker for a packaging design. The starting point was the name NOXX and the black bottle. The design was printed directly on the glass and a special color was selected for each type in addition to white. Dark as night (NOXX), a series with eerie creatures that stimulate the imagination was created.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The packaging must immediately attract attention and stick with the consumer as name and appearance.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2017 in Zug, Switzerland and ended with the completion of the entire series in June 2018.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Packaging Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Screen printing on glass.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Longneck Beer Bottle, Height 226.5mm, circumference 189mm, printable area 189x79mm.

TAGS:
Craftbeer, Screenprint, Bottle, Switzerland, Creepy, Creatures

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the beer industry in particular, a new product is about attracting attention. There's no point in packing an excellent beer in a mediocre design. The client's demands were clear - they wanted both at an excellent level. In the research, the stories of H.P. Lovecraft emerged with its eerie world. This feeling was to be transferred to the packaging. There was a lively exchange with the customer, where various monsters were discussed and many sketches were sent back and forth. The realization took place with Clip Studio Paint and Adobe Illustrator.

CHALLENGE:
The exchange of ideas with the customer side was quite easy and we quickly agreed on the direction we were taking. The hardest part was to convey the uncanny feeling onto the bottle. Much work has been done on the details of the creatures and various variants have been discarded.
