| DESIGN NAME: Power of Meat PRIMARY FUNCTION: Original Grilled INSPIRATION: The overall designing concept is based on brand recognition-using meat to generate electricity and adopt volcanic elements as the keynote to develop a sense of power from eating meat. With the Japanese-style BBQ tone, we used two dimensional and space illusion techniques with iron parts, neon lights and golden elements as the design breakthrough. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For spatial index, the simplified lines of the Chinese character "肉 (meat)" is used as the partition wall elevation and extend to the lightning-shape arranged seating area to link to next space highlight: the self-service bar. The spatial arrangement aims to use the intuitive "meat" character to inspire the rhythm of a large piece of meat being cut through by lightning. The meat pieces were made with wooden texture materials and golden panel to show the brand tone. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The spiritual wall is represented with illustrations of volcano and meat. The space composition and division is formed with the triangular and mountain shaped lines inspired by volcano. By using the lightning symbol in spatial composition, we successfully create a master-slave relationship among areas, which enables consumers to experience an innovative spatial structure. The restaurant is located in Ximending business district, which is the most important and internationalized business district in the west area of Taipei. It is also the main gathering area for young people and one of the must visit destinations for foreign tourists. CHALLENGE: This project is located in a building with a narrow entrance. We decided to turn the entrance and the guest receiving counter by 45 degrees, hoping to increase the visual spaciousness of the entering area, and create a visual dialogue of the brand spirit wall through the transition of space.
