DESIGN NAME: Bliggit
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile App
INSPIRATION: The citizens should have a comfortable and secure digital infrastructure at their disposal that provides easy and quick personalised access to matters related to daily lives. We wanted to offer the companies and service providers in the city of Wuppertal in Germany an additional well-functioning digital gateway for their services, thus facilitating their availability. The objective of the solution was to tackle the fragmentation of the city services and take a step toward a seamless e-society and make the services offered by the city accessible to the citizens through a single digital channel.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Bliggit is an open platform providing secure digital infrastructure for offering all the services of the city (e.g., news, transport, banking, recreational activities and a lot more) in a single online environment. By creating local synergies and connecting the citizens and service providers of Wuppertal, Bliggit helps strengthen the local community and is mutually beneficial for all stakeholders involved - the citizens, city companies, providers of public services, associations and the local government.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The app is a convenient and free digital solution for the citizens, an easy, quick and personalised way to find answers to matters pertaining to their daily lives. Wuppertal city companies and service providers have now an additional low-cost digital channel for making services even better accessible to the people. They can also use the platform for communicating in real time with all the citizens of Wuppertal, by posting information and using the messaging function. The solution is important at this critical time, when digital infrastructure is indispensable.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia and finished in the autumn of 2020 in Wuppertal, Germany. The app is currently live and introduced to other cities in Germany.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Preliminary analysis and service design included: Research and Service Design, User interviews, German market research, Personas, Ideation workshops, Name generation workshops, Design based iteration process, Design System.
CHALLENGE: Finding balance between proactive services and data protection. German market is very aware and concerned about when and how data is being used. This meant that in the designing process we had to find ways how to build trust for the service and give the user the freedom to choose their preferences.
