| DESIGN NAME: Penumbra PRIMARY FUNCTION: Photography INSPIRATION: Caravaggio's paintings were the inspiration for these photos. Especially his passion for sharp contrasts and sharp chiaroscuro. In his paintings, many things remained in the dark, but nevertheless revealed what was most important. He modeled the silhouettes in a theatrical way, giving them a slightly religious expression.The clash of reality and spirituality was the most important. These were main subjects when shooting.People around the photographer were also an inspiration.These are the people she knows well.During the shooting, she was able to show some of the nature of the photographed people, their interests and feelings that accompanied them at that time. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The photos were taken during the global pandemic. The most important challenge of this project was the limitations of leaving the house and meeting people.The point was to show, with minimal resources, what our life was like then.Everyday items were used for this photo session OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It was a big challenge to wait for the right moment during the day to capture the right light. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The works were photographed in 2019 in Białystok Poland.The most common places were the homes of the photographed people and their surroundings. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Fot photography were used various objects found in the house: bowls of water, reflective materials, decorative lamps, sometimes it was also the setting sun or elements of the architecture of buildings. These photos were taken in homes of photographed people or close to them. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Nikon D800 camera, black and white mode for most of the photos. Some photos were taken in color, then changed to black and white. TAGS: contrast, light, chiaroscuro, black and white, mood, Poland, portraits RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Type of study was: how can you capture fleeting moments in our everyday life? When we stop for a moment and start looking more closely. We can then notice things that we have missed so far.When you look at these photos, you will see not only light contrasts, but that opposites attract. CHALLENGE: The biggest difficulty was the constraints of a global pandemic and finding the right means to tell a story when you are limited in moving. NAME: Maya Zet PROFILE: In her photography she often reaches for film motives in which shows influence of surrealism and onirism. Passion for creation of image she developed in The Higher School of Art and Design in Łódź (Poland), where she has finished department of cienematography.She archives painterly through love for analog photography and special method of postproduction. Film frames brings peculiar atmosphere due to natural ilumination,becasue she concentrate on it the biggest note. She published her photography in Photo Vogue Italy and Art and Commerce (Photo Vogue Collection). |
