DESIGN NAME: Risetta
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: The idea arises from the need to produce packaging capable of being not only a container, but also an object useful for furnishing a store or a temporary shop and for presenting goods in an orderly and uniform manner. Its features also make it an easy-to-use object.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Risetta is the evolution of the past that becomes the future thanks to new cutting technologies and the rediscovery of traditional materials as plywood and cork. The folding, broken at 45 degrees, allows us to use a single sheet which, when properly fitted, guarantees the perfect squaring of the box. The cork supports, suitably housed in the ventilation holes, allow the setting up of temporary exhibition spaces. Risetta's qualities can be summed up in 3 words: innovation, ecology, versatility.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Risetta is an innovative container for organic products that takes its cue from the traditional fruit box. It consists of 2 sides that fit together with a laser engraved plywood tub so that it can be easily folded. All the components have regular holes that serve to ventilate the contents and to accommodate the cork supports that perform the function of support on the ground, but, embedded on the sides, allow the side-by-side and overlapping of the modules allowing the setting up of a sale point.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2020 and finished in April 2020. It was nominated at Rilegno Contest 2020

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the market research, an important value was given to eco-sustainability, despite the fact that we are talking about a fruit box, a functional, widespread, simple and economical object, but the main objective was to make the packaging also an exhibitor. I sensed that using the floor supports as a plug-in to place the Risettas side by side and overlapping them in various positions would allow the setting up of temporary and non-temporary sales points, also allowing reuse in the home.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to look for technology and materials, then identified in laser cutting and plywood, suitable for making the production and assembly of Risetta components easier. The second, to look for a system that would exploit the ventilation holes of Risetta, to distance it from the ground, avoiding the stagnation of liquids, and to allow overlapping and side-by-side of several boxes for setting up a store, a task entrusted to cork supports, elastic and waterproof material.
