| DESIGN NAME: Sharing PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Side Table INSPIRATION: The initial inspiration came from a period of time when I lived alone in Tianjin. Since I could not afford a relatively high rent, I could only choose to live in a small apartment. This small space limits my social needs. As I cannot carry out social activities at home, I realize I am isolated. This forced isolation caused by the environment makes me want to do something to eliminate. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With the increasing rent of houses and the decreasing area, small apartments have become the choice of young people. Sharing Furniture creates conditions for small apartment householders to socialize in a small space. The features of easy storage and multi-function make the product flexible when it needs folding space and cope with different usage scenarios. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This coffee table can meet different needs by taking out the mat and the tray on it according to different usage scenarios. Usually, it is used as a coffee table PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2019 in Tianjin and finished in December 2020 in London. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main part is made of pine plywood using CNC cutting, and the cushion part is made of cotton and stitched. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 510 x Length 510mm x Height 516mm TAGS: Multifunctional, furniture, coffee table, stool RESEARCH ABSTRACT: With the acceleration of China's urbanization process, more and more young people are beginning to concentrate in big cities, and this project is to deal with new problems that occur in this context. CHALLENGE: My biggest challenge is how to organically coordinate the relationship between the part and the whole, which led me to conduct a lot of tests, and finally introduced the optimal solution for the comprehensive use.
