DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Estrella

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Providing a Dynamic Experience

INSPIRATION:
Superyacht design has been constantly changed for many years. It is possible to do anything within operational and safety constraints if there are imagination and the owner. In other words, creating innovation architecture depends on owner and the designer. There are over 5,000 Superyacht in the world, however, the number of yachts which are visible are small. Traditional and practical design is influential in yacht industry. However, fresh design can break down the boundaries at times.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project will present the next generation of Superyacht for UHNWI [ Ultra High net worth individuals]. Estrella provides a dynamic experience to people by dividing the hull wings into three volumes. By providing different views of Mediterranean Sea, they understand the Surroundings. Also, it can make intimate experience with nature by providing innovative layout.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This is ‘Tri swath yacht’ and inspired by Cantilever architecture. Estrella was applied to the Y shape and provides a dynamic experience to people by dividing the hull wings into three volumes. By providing different views of the Ocean, they understand the surroundings. It can make an intimate experience with nature by providing an innovative layout.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
From September 2018 to May 2019 in the UK.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
By applying Cantilever to my concept, it might be concerned about the balance. Y concept yacht could cause the balance problem because two side hulls attached on both ends of the main hull. This concept can lead to a leaning centre of gravity on both ends. There is a ship stabilizers system, Fin stabilizers, to solve this problem. By setting the Fin stabilizers on both sides of the centre hull, it can counterbalance all hulls.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Overall length: 104.28m Overall beam: 57.16m Main beam: 14m Hull material: Aluminium Guest capacity: 20 Crew: 35 Cruising speed: 15knots Engine: Hybrid diesel

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Looking back through history, there had existed a lot of transportation around us, such as horse, carriage, motorcycle, bicycle, car, airplane and ship. However, over the last few decades, people have wanted to include these things to their leisure and life. These days, People exercise by bicycle and enjoy driving. A lot of different transportation are acting as sport. Above all things, Yacht or boat industry has got limelight for future- oriented leisure. Countries where national income is over $20,000 has developed yacht and boat industry and many people enjoy sailing yacht and boat. In European countries where yacht industry has developed, they have been developing new design for yacht or boat. Today, there are over 4,000 Superyacht in the world. In addition, there are 226,450 Ultra high net worth individuals(UHNWI) in 2018, which shows that there is a large possibility of future growth for the industry(www.Investopedia.com ,2018). Especially, a new and young generation of UHNWI is increasingly pursuing unique experience and culture compared to existing things. The Superyacht market is ultimate device. It is serving individuals and providing food, travel, culture and special experience to people. By supplying luxury and Flashy service, the upper class wants to own and pursue special things. Superyacht is a suitable method to carry this out. Although many different kinds of Superyacht have been coming out every year, the design is still all the same. They are not fresh and attractive. What is the next generation of Superyacht making a purchase for UHNWI? This concept will present the next generation of Superyacht for UHNWI in 2035.This vessel will provide a fantastic experience to people by dividing the hull wings into three volumes. By giving different views of Mediterranean Sea, they understand the surroundings. It is going to be 80m long and create unique Y shape applying Cantilever method. Therefore, it can make intimate experience with nature by providing innovative layout design.

CHALLENGE:
It was hard to make 3D surfaces by using Rhino. In order to show my idea clearly, it takes long times to do it.
