INSPIRATION:
In medical research, it is known walking movements characteristic of patients appear due to various diseases. It has potential to be used for early detection and prevention of diseases and for rehabilitation as new diagnostic means. If accurate motion analysis can be realized at low cost for wide range of items, it will be help for various purposes as a highly reliable medical database and possible to extend healthy life expectancy and greatly contribute to the world-wide super-aging society.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The robot track a subject and send walking analysis data to cloud database, enables measurement of even more items than before, and develops services as big data useful for medical care, rehabilitation, health maintenance and etc. It will be able to help early detection and prevention of diseases. It's a project that developing a system include the robot to perform accurate walking motion analysis widely and inexpensively, which could only be done with an expensive motion capture system.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
To record walking movements, the subject only needs to walk back and forth on a flat straight line of 10 m, such as in a corridor in hospitals, and the recorded data is analyzed on a cloud server. It based on the elements derived by machine learning from the accumulated walking data of all disease patients. The project planed to provide through web services for early detection and prevention of diseases, for diagnosis and medical purposes in hospitals and for general health promotion purposes.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
since October 2019 in Japan and keep on going.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This project has been advanced independent from the study and development of the measurement system, and is a collaborative project with the National Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities Research Institute in Japan. 3D cameras are mounted on a robot tracks a subject at a fixed distance, and it is possible to accurately measure the walking motion of a subject with the same accuracy as an optical motion analysis system in limited facilities such as research institutes.
