DESIGN NAME: Doji Tower
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Commercial and Office
INSPIRATION: Doji Gold and Gems Group, a jewelry powerhouse in Vietnam, commissioned Mercurio Design Lab to do the interiors of Doji Tower, a mixed-use development inspired by the shape of a diamond. To connect and let flourish the excitement from the outside to the inside of the building, MDL designed the interiors to reflect the luxurious lifestyle and design innovation the Doji brand is known for.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mercurio Design Lab developed a new design language that fuses the classical and contemporary. The blend resulted to an art deco sensibility when applied in the various sections and functionalities of the building. As the merge does not draw a clear line to a specific period in architecture, Doji Tower interior brings forth a timeless creation which bestows a peculiar design impression. The combination is an innovation that outlives evolving colours and trends of time and seasons.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The first five floors of the tower is a retail space featuring various sections for showing wedding-related themes and giftware such as watches and other luxury jewellery. Aspects of the interiors in these floors have been designed for different clientele targets. Doji headquarter occupies the 6th to 9th floors while the 10th to 15th floors are for office lease. The offices feature high-end and top quality furniture interiors. On the 16th floor, the topmost level, there is a high-end restaurant.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Doji Tower interior project in Hanoi, Vietnam was completed in 2019.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Marbles, golden decors, carpets, Italian mosaic, and European crystals were incorporated in the overall design of the interiors.
Gold leaf, decorative ceiling medallions, detailing in the cornice and baseboard, wall panels, coffered ceilings, and gold finishes emphasised the classical characteristics.
The contemporary feel is manifested in the open spaces with large and rounded windows for natural light to flow in, fluid and curvaceous walls, modern furniture, ornaments, and furnishings.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Doji Tower is a large interior project (18,204 sqm) for the corporate headquarters of a client in Hanoi. It is a 16-storey mixed-use development with many functions within the building: corporate offices and a large retail area for the Doji jewellery products. There is also a high-end restaurant at the topmost level.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Doji is a giant in the field of gold, silver, and gems. The brand is embodied by sophisticated men and women who display elegance, confidence, power, influence, passion, and energy. The interior of Doji Tower reflects the same vibrancy and luxury that the brand Doji represents. The design inculcates to the visiting guests and clients a deeper appreciation of the beauty of gold and gems as these are the fundamental inspiration of the interior design and decoration.
CHALLENGE: When Mercurio Design Lab was first appointed, the client wanted a classical design to go along with the pre-existing classical imprint of the building. Mercurio Design Lab, an avant-garde studio, took the challenge and developed a new style language which is a fusion between the classical and contemporary. The blend resulted to an art deco sensibility and is made evident in the various sections and functionalities of the building bestowing a peculiar design impression.
