INSPIRATION:
The word Sustain means to keep alive and also the understanding of the relation between human beings and the nature and also the human beings with each other. The universe is a set of chains and there will be a punishment even if one of its hoops is destroyed. The ability of a chain is equal to the ability of its weakest hoop and due to this reason, everybody should cooperate like chain and show the importance of survival to the others with unity and reduce the amount of the nature destruction that badly impacts the mankind day after day.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Each apparently invaluable piece can turn into a precious and meaningful piece. We only need to change our attitude towards the issues around us. Link consists of the loops and the user can either add or remove every hoop or piece and create a new form each time.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
In the design process of Link piece, with all the simplicities, the visual aspects have been the priority and the chain are the symbol of unity and bond. The complicated hoops in the center of the ring and also the minimal structure of the base part of silver, has made a beautiful and balanced design of unity and order with the disorder.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project kicked off in 2020 and was finalized after making the primary sample in 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The processes of cutting, forming and welding were completely done by hand.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the design of this ring, the dynamism of form, understanding of human-nature relationship and the human themselves has been taken into consideration. The hoops used in this piece represent the universe in which the destruction of even one hoop will be dealt with punishment. One of the other properties of “link” ring is its view(appearance) which are different in different views.
CHALLENGE:
Link has been designed and made in a way that the user is able to either add or remove the number of hoops.

PROFILE:
Sorouri Atelier was established by Saloumeh Sorouri, member of the Industrial Design board at Islamic Azad University of Tehran (Central Branch), since year 1999 in Sari and then 2002 in Tehran, with the aim of gathering the renowned international designers, and commenced its artistic and cultural activities. Tutoring and instructing illustrious designers in the field of art and design-industry, jewelry, products, vehicles, interior design, et cetera, along with holding design workshops are some of her activities. In fact, the background of specific activities in artistic and cultural contexts was hierarchical in her family and passed one generation to another.
