DESIGN NAME: Livre
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair
INSPIRATION: This armchair draws its maximum inspiration from the past and in particular from the Eastern world, where the base was composed of a structure in cylinders that were tied with ropes, thus leaving the entire structure visible. I like to think of today's furniture as citations of a past in continuous contact with the contemporary world, like an infinite search archetypes and the craftsmanship of past worlds.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Livre was born from the idea to blend together my desire for the concept of an Asian-inspired product with the actual perspective of GallottieRadice. The result of this is an armchair that could be define hybrid for the craftmanship applied to the solid wood base; the upper part is instead an enveloping armchair, that feels like a cocoon, very elegant in its shape in contrast with the base which is thick but at the same time tapered, interesting and very soft as a whole.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The soft line of the armchair invites to moments of absolute relax and comfort.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Livre is somehow particular as I have been studying Asian and Japanese design for a long time, and I wanted to understand how to incorporate something that was not already seen into a concept like the one developed for GallottieRadice; at the same time, something that could communicate their uniqueness, the uniqueness in working raw materials, the uniqueness not only in the richness of materials, but also the elegance in shapes, so I tried to blend together my desire for the concept of an Asian-inspired product with the actual perspective of GallottieRadice.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult creative challenge in this project was to combine the softness of the shapes with the desire to highlight one of the main elements of the armchair: the wooden base. My aim was precisely to obtain soft and welcoming lines without neglecting the comfort of the seat, but still leaving the structure evident.
