| DESIGN NAME: Vshape Mattina PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tiles INSPIRATION: A solution for those who need wood-like stoneware tiles that create a step, using one element. Using unique technology, we produced treads that match our wall and floor tiles that help to create coherent and harmonious designs. When making v-shape treads it was important to us that they be modern, ecological, functional and versatile. Vshape tiles are made with a double firing process which strengthens the tile parameters. Cerrad is 1 of 2 manufacturers in the world using this technology. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: V-shape tiles combine the advantages of wood and the functionality of stoneware. The design beautifully emulates the look and structure of wood. It’s hard to distinguish from the real thing, and the typical floor-board format only gives it more credibility. It’s an excellent alternative to natural wood, which, although beautiful, is not as functional and durable as stoneware. Depending on which tile color is chosen, one can easily and freely modify the character and mood of the designed space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Initially, the Mattina collection included wall and floor tiles in 30 x 120 and 20 x 120 formats. Along with advancing technology, we were able to add v-shape treads, thanks to which a harmonious home or terrace design is possible. Originally, v-shape tiles came in a 30 x 30 format, but we were eager to make a tread where the entire step could be covered with one tile only, hence the introduction of the 30 x 120 format. Currently we are working on an even longer, 140 cm long format. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The v-shape Mattina tile has been available for sale since 2017. Its debut took place during the largest International Trade Fair of Ceramics and Bathroom Equipment - Cersaie, in Bologna. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Technology: gres Thanks to the innovative technology, the V-shape tread is made from one ceramic element, and its final shape is created through a gravitational bending process of the nose during the 2nd firing. Along with the special, unique production technology, we were able to create a 120 cm long tread. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: High technical parameters make V-shapes stable, frost, slip, element and crack resistant, making them ideal for indoor and outdoor use. Their versatility allows them to be used on stairs, terraces, window sills, balconies, and also in industrial facilities and buildings. They are easy to care for and exposed to outdoor elements, they won’t change their appearance or lose their technical parameters. Dimension: 30 x 120, five color shades, textured surface, matte, rectified, thickness: 5CM / 0.8CM TAGS: Tiles, Gres, Interior Design, Treads, Stoneware, Interior, Surface RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Testing was completed to confirm the tile performance parameters including, but not limited to: slip and frost resistance. The high quality of offered products has been attested to by affirmations, certificates and awards granted to the best manufacturers in the industry. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was developing a technology which would allow for a double-firing of a tile.
