DESIGN NAME: Customized Farmland
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile Application
INSPIRATION: In China, the urban idle land accounts for a large proportion, and the loss of rural population is serious. Therefore, speeding up the construction of intelligent agriculture has been put on the agenda. Urban users have a strong demand for agricultural products as well as the rural tourism experience, so how to better meet these needs of urban users has become a new direction of rural e-commerce development.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Customized Farmland is an online-to-offline farmland leasing platform aiming at integrating rural agriculture and human resources. It adopts a novel framework consisting of land leasing, agriculture, rural tourism, 5G broadcasting, online marketing, and online donation modules, which provides a new platform for the utilization of rural resources and new opportunities for urban residents to invest in agriculture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First, enter the Homepage, and click on each 2.5D building to enter each service module. In the Land for Rent module, users can lease three types of land, including farmland, poultry and fish ponds, and they can choose two different modes according to their own needs, namely Share Land for Rent and Land for Rent. By browsing the map, users are allowed to select the nearest land and natural village, and view the Land Details to obtain the types of agricultural products that can be planted on the land. In addition, users can not only view the growth status of plants in real-time through 5G Live Stream and make harvest plans of agricultural products in advance, but also click on Land Details for field visits, or book offline farm experience services. At the same time, users can use the Activities to discover and participate in interesting agricultural experience activities. For the harvested agricultural products, users can trade online agricultural products with other users through the Trading page. Last but not the least, they can publish pre-sales information in advance according to the growth status of products and sell them on the platform. Besides, users are able to donate their harvested agricultural products online through Giving to make contributions to the society.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2019 and finished in September 2020 in Shenzhen.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: At the beginning of the design, we conducted brainstorming, mind mapping, scene interviews, etc. In the realization part of the project, we used Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Experience Design.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Use User-Centered Design, extract relevant design requirements through Depth Interview with target users, and integrate detailed user interview worksheets about users’ concerns about food quality, factors affecting users’ growth, personal preferences, perceptions, living conditions, planning, design inspiration, etc. In the requirements analysis stage, the process model, work activity affinity graph, and hierarchical task lists were constructed, so that the process framework and task interaction model could be established as the basis of conceptual design. In addition, the user experience measurement method of heuristic evaluation was adopted, and the design was adjusted and optimized according to the evaluation results.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge is how to impress users a better experience of this project. We should know that this project involves many partners, such as village committees, express service providers, charities, wide purchasers, mobile operators, etc., so it is difficult to balance the relationship between users and partners, hinders the provision of services for users. After formulating the design and operation strategy, it is necessary to practice and explore continuously and try and make mistakes repeatedly, so as to achieve a good user experience.
