RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project is located near the beautiful West Lake. Inspired by nature, the designer intersects traditional Chinese gardens with landscape paintings, with a flexible layout featuring reality and emptiness, opening and closing, distance and proximity, while integrating tradition and modernity to create a modern space with a human touch, reflecting the ecological temperament of the space in all aspects.
CHALLENGE: The project explores the figurative expression of time in space and uses the technique of "borrowing scenery" to blur the boundary between interior and exterior. Technically speaking, building renovation is quite demanding for bearing capacity. In the early stage, the whole floor slab was reinforced with steel plates in order not to affect the use of other floors. To create a garden clubhouse, the shallow topsoil planting was also experimented, allowing the greening coverage to be completed.
