PRIMARY FUNCTION: Eye Protection Lamp
INSPIRATION: Some children have to suspend their classes and stay at home during the epidemic, and their parents who go out to work cannot always stay with them. Therefore, this product plays a role in accompanying children remotely and guards children's growth. Lights can be turned off automatically when the human shape disappears, reducing the unnecessary power loss. Followed with the principle of sustainable development, the counterweight block is die-cast by using recirculated metal.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The lamp adopts a minimalist geometric design. As an IoT device, it can improve home safety and convenience. The side-emitting light mode can effectively prevent direct glare. The built-in scene simulation function can set reminders for the beginning or the end of courses on the App. The camera has a built-in microphone so that children and parents can talk to each other long-distance, and the physical shielding function protects user privacy and safety.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is a household smart desk lamp that can automatically adjust the brightness according to the environment. It can also be controlled by voice or APP through the built-in WIFI module. It will not produce blue-ray and visible flicker while using. And there are bumps and holes on the lamp panel which can effectively prevent the dazzling light. Excellent color rendering and intelligent brightness adjustment make the light softer. So the lamp can better protect people's eyes and reduce the myopia rate as much as possible. And the three-axis design will also save a lot of space on the desktop.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2020 and finished in August 2020 in China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The plain shell is made of metal and plastic materials, which is smooth and free of burrs, beautiful and comfortable. Imilab Eye Caring Lamp uses industrial aluminum extrusion and compression molding. Lamp shape adopts the zero draft angle process, reducing the waste of raw materials.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The weight of this product is 2030g. The dimension of this product is 513mm× 150mm× 463.5mm. The color temperature of this lamp is 4000K.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Some children have to suspend their classes and stay at home during the epidemic, and their parents who go out to work cannot always stay with them. The starting point of this project is how to ensure children's safety at home from different aspects. Case studies are used to analyze other products in the market besides doing secondary research. Persona, interview, and questionnaire are used to collect user pain points. 100 people including parents and children were invited to take part in this questionnaire. Affinity diagramming is used to analyze key insights.
CHALLENGE: At the beginning of this project, it is the great challenges how to use cameras reasonably to protect children's safety at home and how to reduce the sense of surveillance brought by cameras. By conversation with users, the usage feelings of security products with a camera are understood further. Therefore, the physical shielding function of the camera is designed as a good way to protect users' privacy. Prototypes are produced at each stage to simulate the actual usage scenarios. According to the tests, the structure and appearance of the product are improved.
