CHALLENGE: The lighting considered local cultural elements inside the hotel. The lobby features both by a pendant inspired by the Osmanthus (local flower traditionally planted in front of homes to welcome guests) and heron light sculptures inspired by birds found at the Jinsha lake. Behind the front desk, waves of the Qiantang river are revealed via hidden LED lights. A back lit floor number reminds guests they are on guestroom floors. In guestrooms, the iconic canopy bed frame virtually detaches itself from the wall and ceiling through hidden lights.
