DESIGN NAME: Prow Thai
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Branding and Packaging
INSPIRATION: Prow Thai is a virgin coconut oil and cosmetics brand made from coconut oil, which are organic and indigenous products that require expertise and specialized knowledge from southern Thailand. The designer has to design a new brand also a packaging design and inspired by the form of the coconut and the beauty of the sea of southern regions of Thailand.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The designer conception to design the Prow Thai to look like a handcrafted product with meticulousness and have a feeling of hand-made work, but the packaging must have a standard and can be sold abroad and online market. Therefore, the logo was designed to look simple and clean by using only logotype and packaging using a circular shape of a coconut, painted in color painting to make a dot graphic element, and divide the color group to separate products into categories. The background is used as the off-white of coconut meat to represent the cleanliness of cosmetic products.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The designer focuses on simplicity and cleanliness to communicate the image of organic products but adds the dot painting pattern is inspired by coconut shape to get the feeling of local handicraft.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project Started in March 2020 and finished in June 2020 in Bangkok Thailand.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Prow Thai is a traditional virgin coconut oil that was originally in the small southern provinces of Thailand, and they wanted to expand the market to foreign countries and online. But they lacked an understanding of the design and limited production plants. The designer was assigned to develop the brand image, redesign the packaging. After researching, it was found that the product is a quality organic goods that can only be obtained from parts of the South in Thailand. The designer decided to make the brand image more international but still look like a handcrafted product.
CHALLENGE: It is a project between the Thai government, entrepreneur, and designer and has a relatively short-term period to work. As for entrepreneurs, they lack experience and understanding of the design process. The designer must use the information to convince entrepreneurs to understand and to stick to their plans.
