| DESIGN NAME: Democracy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Desk INSPIRATION: individuals with independent and creative minds gain synergy through teamwork. and a team needs individual creativity and independence. when these desks gather together to form a team, you can see the various personalities and habits of members at a glance. the members can recognize that their team is a union of various personalities and characters. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: democracy desk a.k.a a desk which disappears any storage tool. a desk which disappears any storage tools. many storage tools might not be the right way definitely. even without a storage tool, the transparent plate of the desk where storage tools are disappeared by A4-shaped 2 holes and a drawer makes the user workspace more spacious and comfortable. develope the concept of this desk open relationship. teamwork, where individual personalities are alive, creates synergy. one more step, with consideration for the marginalized people, this will be an educational experiment and talk about social issues(selfishness, bullying, poor learning, maladjustment, etc.) in society, schools, and families towards the value of going together without people behind. this is worth further study. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: this desk is parted into 3 parts. the top transparent plate of the desk, semi-transparent drawer, and desk frame. even without a storage tool on the desk, we can create a desk in which the work area is more mainly with no difficulty in storing and using. according to the frequency of operation and motion of hands on the desk, the desk can be classified into the workspace, storage space, and the placing space. on this standard of area, we can freely arrange objects through A4-shaped TWO HOLES and A DRAWER, with seeing through the top transparent plate of the desk, by each user own work style. this transparent desk reveals various personalities, like democracy. on this desk, some users may keep the desk clean. and other users may let desk crazy style by customizing. or other users may block the plate by taping it to protect their privacy. because, how to arrange and what to have reveals their personalities. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: the project started in 2016 in Seoul and finished in 2016, and was exhibited in Milano Design Week, Fuorisalone 2020 and 2018, London Design Festival 2017, Seoul Design Festival 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: FAB operation. CNC machine for acrylic, wood, abs, and made the shape of the body, wheels, plate, and drawer of the desk. And aluminum pipes for the frame of the desk were matte-powder coated. NAME: HERITAGE OF SANG IL PROFILE: HERITAGE OF SANG IL is the classic design project. HERITAGE OF SANG IL is designed with the idea that it will leave the timeless value of the heritage. the spirit of heritage has timeless value. this spirit is not only the past but also tells the present. heritage is always with us. it is always communicating with us, and the past, present in the modern city center, is always speaking to us who pass by. if we do not forget the spirit of heritage, it is always with us and is reinterpreted and reinvented by us now. so heritage is resurrected in a new appearance and a new way asks us many questions and communicates newly. it gives us a lot of inspiration and joy and keeps us from forgetting who we are. so I design my work with thinking as heritage. the identity of HERITAGE OF SANG IL was designed based on the facade of 'Haan Ok(Korean traditional architecture)' consisting of the foundation stone, pillars, and tile roofs. the past reminds us of a sad history that we can not forget. if there is a will to overcome the gloomy history without forgetting it, the dark past presents us with the possibility of a new age. however, many sad histories are repeated without being overcome. |
