PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sustainable Innovative Eyewear
INSPIRATION: We were inspired by Ikea, for the easy assembly, and also by the old metal toys to be bend and assembly. Then, lines are inspired by minimalism Japanese spirit, and engineering achievement that we learnt working with some high-end customer (like McLaren). Hinges came thanks to my passion for magnets
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Eyewear is fully sustainable, economical, made on demand, and innovative. Thanks to additive manufacturing and Laser cut stainless steel 100% recycled, made on demand, the project is eco-responsible without creating wasted product. Thanks to the patented simple hinges and the clipping system, it could be assembled even by the end user ! Also, as the patented hinge is based on magnetic elements, the hinge is life lasting (100.000 folding test has been made, without any loss performance !)
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This frame is obtained by easy assembly between parts after high personalization of each parts, made on demand, without high stock. All the elements are easy to remove in order to replace just one part in case of breakage. The hinge itself has been tested with 100.000 folding, without any reduction of performance, which push the boundaries of every other ones resistance.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 8 months of creation and pre-production, designed in Lyon, France

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: PA11 additive manufactured, 100% recycled stainless steel, and our know-how in terms of 3D printing constraint and possibilities. Patented hinge obtained by magnets assembly to create friction and axis

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: When we decided to launch a brand, we decided that the footprint of this line needs to be as minimum as possible. The eyewear industry use to work with classical soustractive solution (80% of the raw material is trashed), and fixed assembly solution (riveted, soldered, shouted). We decided to start with a brand new method, work in additive, source only eco responsible material, and mechanical easy assembly, to eventually leave the customer to do it by himself.
