DESIGN NAME: Green Boat Song
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: We have depicted a fat hen incubating her eggs on a beautiful flat-topped hill, and a canopy of vines and flowers surrounded her. Behind the hen is a beautiful green field, a scene of the nature in which they live, distinguishing the hens from caged chickens. The quality of the water, the organic grains raised in farm and the mineral-rich living soil are also illustrated in picture. This gives the consumer a more direct insight into the excellent quality of the eggs.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A farmer in Pingdingshan, a beautiful town in Henan province, China, raises a flock of chickens that live happily in nature. Unlike caged chickens, chickens raised here bask in the morning sun, drink mountain springs and eat organic grains as humans do, and the soil is rich in minerals. So chicken and eggs are in good conditions and very safe to eat.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The box is made of an "aeroplane box" and when the user opens the lid, 5 rows of 6 rows of eggs are presented to the user. The interior is made of pearl sponge to ensure the safety of each egg while looking safe.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started with Suzhou in November 2020.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We use spot colour printing on the surface of the natural recycled corrugated paper and use embossing and hot stamping processes for the words "Certified Organic" to allow the consumer to feel the undulations on the surface of the box when they hold the product, expressing the "thickness" and "quality" of the product.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Green Boat Song Egg packaging is made from natural recyclable corrugated material (packaging size is 345mm*280mm*70mm), which is consistent with natural and organic egg products and reduces the pressure on the environment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At the beginning of 2020, the farmer approached us and offered us to help with the design, but delayed working together because he could not afford our higher design fees. By September, we were so moved by the client's sincerity and his dedication to making the product that we agreed to pay us for the design along with the eggs, and the collaboration began. We are also willing to work with these clients who work from the heart, because we work with the same heart.
CHALLENGE: The image for this packaging design uses a sketchy expression to depict the chicken, the environment and more. In the year 2020 in China, there is still a lot of poor quality, unattractive packaging on the market, and this solution is an attempt to adapt to the Chinese consumer market, but it seems to be working well so far.
