| DESIGN NAME: U PRIMARY FUNCTION: Side Table INSPIRATION: When you are sitting on the balcony and want a cup of coffee or a book, is it particularly convenient and pleasant to have a side table next to it? It was in this situation that I considered designing an elegant side table. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It’s a side table supported by U-shaped structures. Bringing forth the new through a conventional crossing structure, the base forms multiple triangular areas, which not only ensure the overall stability, but also offer a feast to eyes. The mix of clean lines and modest silhouette shows its cordial personality, while the contrast of the lines and its surface offers a strong visual impact. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In terms of materials, the designer took advantage of the features of metal, bending and forming at once, and takes consideration of the position and proportional relationship between the big U and small U structures to meet both stability and beauty. The table top is crafted of natural cherry wood, offering a handy landing spot for water glasses, books, and decorations. Paired with a metal frame with different colors available, this side table meets the preferences of various customer groups. With so many characteristics in one side table, it finds the balance between art and utility. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Aside from an eye-pleasing appeal, the U-shaped structures give priority to stability and have been verified by stability and center of gravity tests. Two U-shaped tubes are connected by screws, which are hidden in covert positions for a neat look. Boasting a simple design and compact size, this side table is lightweight and easy to move, making it an ideal replacement for a bulky coffee table as well as a chic sidekick to your sofa or armchair for small spaces.
