PRIMARY FUNCTION: Personal Nutrition System
INSPIRATION: How much do we know about food? Almost all the food packages has a nutrient composition table. How crazy it is. With the development of the food industry and nutrition, we can almost discover different nutrition of all food. We also know how many nutrition "we" need. But After my research I realized that many of our dietary recommendations are based on statistics, but everyone has a different body. My design is focus on how can we avoid overnutrition and malnutrition from individual differences and provide a healthier diet plan.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Newtrit is a personal nutrition system that consists of a monitor and an app. With this monitor user could measure the amount of the minerals in the his/her body by spectrophotometry. The monitor will record and analyze the personal nutrition intake and preferences. The app will give healthier diet recommendations that are suitable for the user according to the data from the monitor.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. user connects the monitor with the app via Bluetooth.
2. user put the monitor over hand.
3. an Airbag in the monitor will inflate to ensure the hand as close as possible to the sensors, then the monitor starts measurement automatically.
4. user will have the results and diet recommendations on phone.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I visited food markets in different places, such as Germany, Morocco and China, try to understand the different perspectives on food and nutrition. After online research and interviews with nutritionists, doctors, visited nursing home and restaurants, etc. With those knowledges of food, nutrition and our body, I got the idea to design a personal nutrition companion. I got the technology by online and offline research. made and optimized the product form, material, user experience and use process step by step through sketches and making model.
CHALLENGE: I have to understand nutrition and our body as much as possible, make sure my idea makes sense. For example, I spend a lot of time on research of each nutrient: why we need it? How it works on our body? What are effects of an overnutrition and a malnutrition? etc.
