| DESIGN NAME: Mubic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Modular Table INSPIRATION: In this modern-day life we usually live in such small apartments, where we don't have enough space to have a normal or bigger dining table if visitors are coming. So Mubic is perfect for those who want to save space and also for those who like its clean and joyful appearance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mubic is a modular table which can be transformed from a coffee table to a 2,4 or 6 persons dining table without disassembling but rotating its legs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: You need one more person to open up the table. You need to work in mirror and to synchronize. If Mubic is in position 1 you need to hold the top with your left hand and with your right hand to grab the leg and pull up towards you. After this, it is in position 2. From here you need just simply to rotate the legs and you got the other positions. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Mubic was created in 2016 and in 2017 it was exhibited at Cluj Design Days. In 2019 it participated at a crowdfunding campaign, Startarium, and it had succes, it was financed. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The top is made of "A quality" spruce wood and is equipped with super resistant hinges. The legs are painted in electrostatic field to keep the paint in the best condition for a long time. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: position 1 (coffee table): h40 x W81.4 x D75cm position 2 (6 persons dining table): h71 x W145 x D75cm position 3 (4 persons dining table): h71 x W113 x D75cm position 4 (2 persons dining table): h71 x W81.4 x D75cm TAGS: modular table, modular, table, table design, innovative table, playful, functionality, multifunctional RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before designing this product, I made a deep research about modular tables. There are a lot of them which can be transformed from one position to another, most of them by adding or removing pieces of the table. But I didn't find anything like Mubic, which has 4 different positions and you can transform it without any adding or disassembling. I also went to design fairs and events to ask the opinion of the visitators about this type of product for a clear and precise vision. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this project was to design the custom made part which lets the legs to rotate in different directions and the product development for stability and good production.
