DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
The MIXc Kunshan

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Kids Area

INSPIRATION:
The inspiration of the project comes from Kunshan, the city where the project is located. It is the birthplace of Kunqu Opera. Therefore, we hope to integrate some elements of traditional culture into the design, so that the public area in the business space can not only have its consumption guiding purpose, but also have the educational significance of disseminating traditional culture.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The innovation of the project lies in the breakthrough of the traditional public area design. In the form of overall facade, the theme is highly unified. Designer created an unprecedented consumption premises. Another point lies in its inheritance of traditional culture. Designers use childlike design to translate elements of traditional culture into things that children accept and love, and carry forward the charm of traditional opera.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Based on the scientific planning of consumer movement, the designer created several points of interest in the space. The customized soft furnishings can be used as seats in the rest area, as well as interactive points for consumers to take a snap. In the theme area, the unique high-rise space in the area where the parent-child park is located has been flexibly used to create an open reception area, making it an eye-catching presence in the entire children's theme area. It not only provides a view for consumers in the mall, but also attracts passenger flow for the shops.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project finished in November 2019 in Kunshan, China

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Traditional elements such as Yunjian, long sleeves, horsetail whisk, Kuitou, facial makeup, musical instruments have become a cute symbol that is more easily loved and accepted by children through the translation of design language. They not only decorate the large cartoon installations in the public area, but also are incorporated into the signboards design. The lively color blocks and geometric patterns grounded together, together with the thematically modified guardrails have not only enhanced the identification of the children's section, but also perfectly set the mood of childlike feeling.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The floor area of the project is 4500 sqm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
This is a renovation project, located on the third floor of the shopping mall, and most of the store investment is parent-child business, such as early childhood education center and toyshops. We do not want the thematic transformation of the public area to be limited to some cute and childlike furniture, but hope that through the overall design of the store, the entire public area can present a kind of overall visual aesthetics. The immersive consumption experience scene drives the interest of consumers and enriches their experience.

CHALLENGE:
The difficulty of the project is that our team challenged a single public area design and explored more. The creation of this new type of consumer experience has high requirements in terms of balancing actual functions and the unity of theme aesthetics.
