DESIGN NAME: DeliPeruano Signature
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: This product needed to be shown as something unique and desirable, standing out among the other piscos in Peru. That's why I chose a minimalist and elegant graphic design printed directly on the bottle instead of the common paper label, to showcase the product's attributes, combined with handcrafted and recycled materials that add a sensorial experience. For the typography and graphic details, I did a visual research and took inspiration from old Peruvian stamps and liquor labels, as well as old engraved botanical illustrations.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: DeliPeruano Signature is a Premium Pisco Pairing Kit made in a limited edition with selected artisanal botanicals. Its package design combines a minimalist and traditional style to convey its value and uniqueness, making it desirable to the user. Cleanliness and elegance denote the purity and high quality of the products, through the use of typography, black and silver ink printed directly on the bottles and small details such as textures and fine finishes. Graphic details, antique-style illustrations and rustic materials refer to the tradition and craftsmanship of this Peruvian liqueur.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The kit’s box comes with a hanging tag on the outside as an introduction to the product. Once opened, user finds an elegant black envelope containing a welcome brochure. Next is the Pisco bottle with a minimal printed design that allows to see the purity and transparency of the liquor. Its white back label contains detailed information about the product. In a closed compartment are the botanical jars with their name printed on them. On the wooden lid you can see the logo and the edition number.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in January and finished in April 2018, in Lima, Peru.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For the packaging design, the designer chose different materials such as glass bottles with cork lids, a handcrafted box made with reused wood, kraft paper, adhesive paper and jute rope, as well as silver ink and other fine finishes. Different printing systems were used for the production: direct screen printing on the bottles, screen printing on wood on the outside and inside of the box, and offset printing for the complementary materials such as labels, hangtag and leaflet.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The box measures 17 x 14 x 38 cm.
Pisco bottle measures 6 x 31 cm.
The glass jars measure 4 x 9 cm each.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The most difficult part of this project was the production possibilities for the results desired, the materials and the small number of editions. It required an uncommon type of production for this type of goods and it was difficult to get a quality silkscreen with an artisan producer and with a graphic design of such small dimensions. I overcame it doing a lot of research, testing and design adjustments.
