RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Based on the form and features of the villa, designers delineate the functional spaces on different floors carefully. The architects from the studio followed the assignment and were also inspired by the atmosphere and colorfulness of Chonqing.
CHALLENGE: The building is a single family villa connecting the upper and lower layers of two house types. Above the original living room is a terrace. The design team adds structural columns to bring the terrace into the living room, creating a duplex living room. The protruding glass case on the second floor breaks the square pattern of the living room. Three huge French windows bring in views from outside. The two story high dark built-in bookshelf adds a sense of grandness to the living room, which makes the jade wall not so monotonous because of the large area.
