| DESIGN NAME: Autumn Sky PRIMARY FUNCTION: Gift Box INSPIRATION: This design shows the interaction between light and shadow, the interaction between tradition and fashion. Inspired by the windows of ancient China. Before the glass was invented, Chinese people used thin paper to stick it on the pane. The paper can be light-proof and windproof. Then people paste some paper carvings on the thin paper to increase the aesthetic feeling of light and shadow. This design is to process the living material in art. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a Chinese moon cake gift box. In particular, the entire gift box uses a large area of laser carving. Laser carved every leaf, every small animal, every wave is carefully sketched. This is not only a gift box, but also a lamp. When the electronic candle in the middle is opened at night, it will reflect a beautiful picture of light and shadow on the wall through the two-layer combined paper carving pattern on the side. The lid is made of acrylic acid. There are eight moon cakes, knives and forks and electronic candles in the middle. The design elements are clouds, waves and forests. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Open the lid and take out the box containing the candle and knife and fork. Take out 8 mooncakes, light the candles and put them at the bottom of the box. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This box use multicolored silver paper to carve with laser. Paste a frosted PVC sheet on the back of the paper. The near view and far view are separated by 15mm EVA material. The cover is made of transparent acrylic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 210mm depth 210mm height 200mm TAGS: Laser, carving, acrylic, Luminous, 3D RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In this packaging design, the most difficult thing is to balance the luxury and cost of packaging design. Therefore, laser cardboard was selected as the main material of this design. Use the right laser power to carve the paper because if the power is too high, the paper will be scorched and too small to cut. The final result is obviously advanced. The double-layer laser engraving silver paperboard shows a good perspective effect. The total cost of the whole gift box is only 15 dollars. CHALLENGE: The effect of laser engraving is more delicate than knife version. In order to make the whole gift box both ornamental and portable, this work selects acrylic as the material. Acrylic increases the transmission and refraction of light, is undoubtedly the most perfect material. Although laser can carve very fine patterns, but the overall design needs to find a balance, not excessive pursuit of complexity, in the aesthetic and material outline, also consumed a lot of time.
