The husbands planting interest, the wife also looked forward to doing meditation at this space. The design team blending in the husband and wife preference for Japanese Zen style, using the industrial style that is in a not too much way, and building a modern minimalist Zen Japanese style residence in busy urban life.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Starting from the clients expectation of low-profile Zen style, using the cut of scented cypress wood, and the ceiling is presented in a way as a three-dimensional Japanese window frame. In order to achieve a sustainable environment and the goal of maximizing the utilization of materials, the remaining cypress wooden veneer from the ceiling is cut and applied to the Japanese rooms cabinet surface, to create a comprehensive waste-free design.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The interior space area of this project is small. When cutting the cypress wood, the saw table used by the carpenter cannot be placed inside, and can only be done at the front space. Considering that cypress wood is a relatively expensive building material, when designing and cutting, precise calculation and not wasting all materials is one of the key points that the design team cares about. After the design team selected the cutting, there is still enough plate to use for the doors and ceiling panels of the Japanese room storage cabinets.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ceiling is the highlight of the entire space, and the design team used cypress wood to create a detailed design so that people can stare at the ceiling for a long time. In order to balance the overall space design, the floor uses a gray color Pandomo that has fewer division lines, focusing on the high ceiling space. With the use of black iron plates, and collides with the gentle Zen style with the sharp industrial integration, embellishing the rigid lines into the design of the gentle Japanese Zen style, creating a stylish new French industrial residence.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: It is important to accurately measure the size of the interior space and cut the right dimension of the solid wood since only the precise width of cypress solid wood panels can perfectly fit the triangular ceiling. Through careful planning, it can be seen that even at the end of the wall, the triangular cypress wood board is presented in a complete shape, and the remaining plates are used to make the wall. Create a style that is consistent from the outside to the private space.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The clients original expectation for this project is a private hidden space for the couple in the city. Although the Zen style in Kyoto is good, it is a bit old reveals that the client is looking forward to a residence with an exquisite Japanese design and a modern style. After understanding the clients needs, the design team started to design. The design team integrated the minimalist industrial style, integrating with a Japanese-style that met the clients expectations and had a unique minimalist and modern sense of residence.
CHALLENGE: The area of this project is only 72.7 square meters, and the height of the space creates an illusion of being in a water pipe as soon as entering the room. Therefore, the designer focuses on planning to create layers in this narrow space, and spaces for storing daily necessities, and also need to ensure that the activity space would not be compressed. The designer chose to utilize the high space as a mezzanine to create a storage space for the client with a high wall that can be reached through the ladder, which brings more layers to this project.
