| DESIGN NAME: Tranquil Gathering PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant INSPIRATION: It is a Japanese style restaurant in this project. In the application of various Japanese elements, the design team adopts elements of modern style. The design team thinks outside the box and gets rid of the traditional Japanese style, they arrange space configuration flexibly in order to present the images of clients interaction and gatherings. They create a flexible and modern sense in a harmonious Japanese dining space. Thus, space shows a unique spatial style based on modern elements. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The whole space is a Japanese restaurant based on a variety of Japanese materials. Adopts multiple modern elements as a collocation gradually, which makes the simple Japanese style modern. Adopts a light wood tone as the main axis of the space and adopts cutting of wooden grid to create a three-dimensional and harmonious contour. The vertical shape of the wooden grid extends to the bar area. Mostly adopts PU simulation material of stone and wood skin as collocations in the space configuration. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In the creation of the Japanese style configuration, the clients hope that the design can present in untraditional ways, so lots of modern materials are used harmoniously such as imitated rust plates with screw rivets, chandeliers with metal elements, stone skin with annual ring pattern, and perspective glass. With different materials, space presents the Japanese and modern style in diverse appearance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in August 2018 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In the use of materials, the design team adopts PU artificial leather in the wall that runs from the first floor to the second floor. Thus, the whole space shows the diverse changes of different materials in the main tone of the Japanese style. Also, the design team takes good advantage of the diversified traits of the PU artificial leather materials, choosing materials that have various textures such as slate, annual rings, grayscales with screws and rivets as the spatial style. The design presents a modern sense with abundant Japanese style. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Taking into account that customers can have comfortable interactions and gatherings in the space, the design team uses hollow bricks and glass as cutting. Also, the design team sets up functional equipment such as sockets between the floors. On the second floor in the space of the booth, the design team takes reunion as the main idea, using circular elements such as desktops and lamps to present the image of gatherings. TAGS: Japanese restaurant, PU simulation leather, Private booth, Bar counter, Japanese style RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project adopts the concept of Japanese style design. Applies hollow bricks as an element to show the liveliness in the bar area. As the glass extends and opens being the highlight to the overall space, keeps the balance between every fictional area. Layers the space atmosphere with grayscale, wooden materials, and stone materials. They especially feature the second-floor space with PU leather elements and shape the style of dark stone materials, tree rings, and horizontal wood grain. CHALLENGE: In the creation of modern and Japanese style, the design team adopts lots of wooden color elements, such as the cutting of wooden grid ceiling on the first floor of the bar counter and the aisle space. The lines and textures laid out in layers are connected by vertical paving. The wooden grid in the bar counter accompanies hollow brick that extends from the table, presenting the exclusive place for bar counter.
