| DESIGN NAME: Game Shield PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mobile-Gaming Screen Protector INSPIRATION: The new 5G technology promised even faster & more powerful features on our mobile devices, more users will view their screen more intensively for longer duration, especially for Mobile Entertainment & Gaming. Monifilm Game Shield is designed in response to fulfill this new market trend. Going beyond screen protection, it also has a feature mix of Superb Screen Clarity, Ultra Smooth Swipe & Touch, Anti Glare & Anti Blue light for prolong viewing pleasure and user eyes protection as well. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Made from an Advanced Etching Formula, Game Shield is a 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protector optimized for intensive & prolong screen viewing. Ideal for Mobile Games & Entertainment, it has an Ultra Screen Smoothness of merely 0.08 micrometer roughness for user to swipe & touch with optimal speed & precision. It also provides a 92.5 percent transmittance screen clarity with Zero Red Sparkling and other eye protection features like Anti Blue Light and Anti-Glare for long duration viewing comfort. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When applied on the devices, users will experience a screen clarity of 92.5% transmittance clarity with Zero Red Sparkling. The Anti-Glare features in place ease the straining of the user eye during longer period of viewing. And with an Ultra-Smooth surface of merely 0.08 micrometer roughness, it also enhances the screen to become 3X Smoother with Lower Sweat Friction, giving users an optimal swipe & touch experience with speed and precision on the screen. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Preliminary market research & testing for Game Shield started as early as Jun 2018. The specification and Advance Etching Formula were finalised on Sep 2019 and from there, we showcased some prototype samples during 2019 Oct Hong Kong Electronic Fair. We further refine the design and process on Dec 2019 with some working samples. More samples are developed for Ipad, iPhone and ROG Phones on Mar 2020. we plan to prelaunch Game Shield during Q4 in Taiwan and Japan, before entering other markets. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The current solutions to create Anti Glare (AG) screen protectors caused flickering red dot sparkling on the screen with low 87-89% transmittance. Game Shield resolved these issues with an Advanced Etching Process using eco-friendly alkaline solution & alumino silicate glass material to create a surface that is 3X Smoother, with high 92.5 % transmittance, raising screen clarity from 40.3% to 108%, and also disperses the direct light reflection & intensity of harmful blue light more effectively. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: GameShield can be made for iPhones, Android Phones, ROG II and other popular Gaming Smart Phone TAGS: Screen Protectors, 9H Tempered Class, Mobile Gaming, Etching Technology, Monifilm, Game Shield RESEARCH ABSTRACT: There are 2 main critical parts on the design and development of Game Shield. The 1st is the getting the perfect formula of the Etching Process which requires a well balance approach of multiple expertise in cover glass, chemical process, DSLR lens coatings and CNC polishing engineering knowledge. The 2nd part will be the high-quality precision production to integrate the high transmittance camera and sensor hole punch with the anti-glare screen into a zero gap one-piece screen protector. CHALLENGE: The most challenging aspect of designing and developing Game Shield is getting the right formula for our Advanced Etching Process, a very delicate process to get the perfect mix of environment temperature, material, potion used, timing of processing. A slight change of the potion of material, timing or even environmental temperature will affect the end results, affecting the ideal mix of hardness, clarity, transmittance and anti-glare balances for the product.
