DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Tissue Box

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Children Medicine Packaging

INSPIRATION:
There are about 230 million children in China in 2020, and the vast majority of children will take granules when they have a cold. The pharmaceutical market for this medicine is very competitive which has dozens of manufactures. In order to be better displayed on the shelves, we redesigned the drug packaging. We also subconsciously tell users that opening the medicine box will regain health.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a Chinese-made children cold medicine that aim to reduce the fear and resistance of children to taking medicine and try to relieve the anxiety of parents. The facade of the package is a child who is wiping his/her nose. While opening the box, the snot paper is pulled out and a healthy and happy child shows. The design conveys the idea of "taking medicine, you will restore your health ".

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The facade of the package is an image of a child who is wiping his nose. Then by lifting the snot paper, consumers will see a healthy and happy child. As the snot paper is pulled back, the image of a happy child appears little by little in front of the user, and the packaging box opens accordingly. We also subconsciously tell users that opening the medicine box will regain health.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2020 in Guangzhou and finished in June 2020 in Guangzhou.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
At present, the packaging design of children's medicine in China focuses on drug safety and brand recognition, which lacks in-depth analysis and research on the behavior characteristics of sick children and their parents. This work takes the user behavior characteristics as the starting point, analyzes the main existing problems of children's medicine packaging on the market, combines children's development psychology, and explores children’s medicine packaging from the perspective of parents and children based on the actual survey results of parents and children. Through the design of structure, color, opening method, interaction method and other aspects of children’s medicine packaging, it has explained in many ways the beneficial effect of children's medicine packaging for sick children and parents, thereby reflecting the important significance of children's medicine packaging design.

CHALLENGE:
The pharmaceutical market for this medicine is very competitive which has dozens of manufactures. In order to be better displayed on the shelves, we redesigned the drug packaging.
