| DESIGN NAME: Liuzhou Park Lane Manor PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clubhouse INSPIRATION: Inspired by the characteristics of Liuzhou, that is freshness, uniqueness, flexibility and interest, the clubhouse is designed with the cultural symbol of the city and tells the stories of it within the quiet, beautiful and cultural space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by oriental wisdom and based on the theme of 'square and circle', the designer has divided the clubhouse into various functional spaces and found a balance with a square axis. And different spaces are connected with each other, forming a perfect 'circle'. What’s more, the clubhouse is designed with the cultural symbol of the city and tells the stories of it within the quiet, beautiful and cultural space. Every detail of the space reflects the local culture, creating an artistic style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The lobby in the center serves as the transition space between the interior and the exterior. It is the main entrance to the community and also the connection between the clubhouse and two sunken courtyards where most functions are located. Hidden in the busy city, it keeps quiet and independent, leading the residents of the Park Lane Manor to the Mix and sheltering them from the rain or the hot sun. In addition, located by Liuzhou light rail, it allows residents to enjoy a colorful and cozy life. Nestling by the lobby are two courtyards which echo the central partition and the staircase, embodying the interaction between nature and man-made space, and creating a quiet and distinctive reception space. A spiral staircase leads visitors down to the clubhouse on the basement floor. The textural grooves and the romantic lighting create a dialogue between the virtual and the real. Simple materials are combined with elegant lines, bringing the sense of steadiness and presenting the beauty of balance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, China. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design of the clubhouse is totally based on the concept of 'square and circle'. Four two-storey high screens enclose the visual focus, classifying the surrounding spaces as the primary or the secondary with different openings. Exquisite openings create a flexible and energetic space atmosphere which provides strong visual impact, softens the rigid transitions and brings some modern and elegant touches. Beneath the glass awning, a spiral staircase leads visitors down to the clubhouse on the basement floor. The textural grooves and the romantic lighting create a dialogue between the virtual and the real. Simple materials are combined with elegant lines, bringing the sense of steadiness and presenting the beauty of balance.
