DESIGN NAME: The Cube
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Nail Spa
INSPIRATION: The concept stems from the branding idea of Rubiks Cube. The tiled grid is a guide for the entrance area, the pattern manages to flow consistently at each corner this is illustrated where the wall or counter meets the ground.Following the pink tile, coupled with the pastel color palette, the retail outlet evokes a simple, ordered yet playful space.Rectangular and cube shaped shelves have been carved from the wall.It is a space within a space.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Cube Nail Lab is characterized by its interior, where the walls, floor and ceiling are covered in a continuous ceramic tile pattern. With thoughtful consideration of the brand,a color of pink was picked by the designer to give it a refreshing look that sets the character apart from the typical glossy and glamorous images of a nail spa.
We worked the interior space around its branding colors and paired it with copper finishes to create a warm, cozy environment for a fully modern look.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Cube Nail salon operates like your typical salon. As you step into the space, you are greeted by a central table where you can have your nails done, while off to the side is a bank of pedicure chairs.
The main reception desk which is always an integral part of any business is discreet and miniature in size. However, its finished with a tile pattern that is distinct as it represents the very essence of the brand. This same tile pattern ca be seen on the floor and walls that offers a strong visual pull to get customers and passers by into the space. This is evident thru the intense feminine touch light pastel colors relaxing and comfortable seating. Once inside users can appreciate the ambiance while having their nails done. It is a classic example of how aesthetics, the functionality of a space coupled with the services provided can seamlessly integrate and elevate the performance of a product.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A combination of descriptive and associational research was done. The objective was to determine The Perfect location that can offer the best opportunity for the clients business to grow. An initial survey was conducted by comparing various potential sites. From the demographics, age ranges and other competitors. All these factors were crucial during data collection. After this thorough process, a couple of sites were shortlisted. However, a more detailed study was needed to determine the best fit. Additional data on competitions was gathered by looking into how their business is doing or trending collecting data such as the number of years in business, has the business expanded or made significant changes in the last couple of years is a direct relation between its location vs the customers that it supports? Finally, examining the aesthetic and design style of the competitors provided a better understanding of how our clients can utilize design to standout from the crowd and attract potential customers.
